Grilled Shrimp Alfredo

Grilled Shrimp Alfredo

Make Delicious Grilled Shrimp Alfredo

Alfredo is a delicious pasta dish and, when combined with grilled shrimp it creates a dish that is appetizing and delicious. The aroma alone will have everyone drooling. While traditionally shrimp alfredo is made with regular cooked shrimp, using grilled shrimp really jazzes up this dish and gives it an extra bang, especially when using a grilled shrimp marinade. So when it is that special occasion which calls for an extravagant dinner, consider adding this tasty dish to the menu. It is easy to prepare and fun to eat.

When shopping, be sure to pick out the very best ingredients. Quality ingredients insure a high quality meal. I have found that some cheaper groceries are bland and generic tasting. This recipe is flexible and there are many options to choose from. You can decide if you want to use premade sauces or not, like the jarred alfredo sauce. Personally, I prefer not to use the jarred sauce as I find that making my alfredo from scratch gives my pasta a fresher and more natural taste. Plus, I get the advantage of avoiding all those preservatives.

Here are the ingredients needed for this meal: Fettuccini noodles, jarred alfredo sauce or mozzarella and cream cheese, butter, a package of jumbo shrimp (the fresh ones from behind the counter are the best), and a bottle of grilled shrimp marinade or honey, lime juice, red pepper, and vinegar(you can use any kind that you prefer). If you opt to use the jarred and bottled sauces then preparing this meal will be easier, but I prefer the from-scratch method. Nevertheless, if this is your choice follow the instructions for jarred method.

Instructions:

   1. Heat the appropriate amount of water for the pasta on high heat. Sprinkle a little salt in the water and add a few drops of oil.
   2. When the water boils add the pasta and lower the heat to med. High. Be sure to stir the pasta every few minutes just to be sure it does not stick together.
   3. Heat up the grill
   4. Jarred Method: Pour the grilled shrimp marinade in a large bowl.

From-Scratch: Mix ¼ cup of lime juice with 2 tbsp of honey, 2 tsp. of vinegar. Add ½ tsp. of crushed red pepper and stir.

   1. Peel and devein the shrimp (if needed). Rinse the shrimp in cool water. Dab the shrimp with a paper towel to dry and place in the marinade.
   2. Place the shrimp on skewers.
   3. Check the pasta. If it is tender then remove from heat and drain.
   4. Jarred: Pour the sauce over the pasta and stir (if desired, add a little butter).

From Scratch: Add 4 oz. of cream cheese and about 4 oz. of mozzarella. Add 2 tbsp. of butter and stir until all the cheese is melted.

Set Alfredo aside

   1. Place marinated shrimp on grill and cook until well done.
   2. Remove the shrimp from the skewers and add to the alfredo.

This dish is best served with garlic bread. Enjoy!
